The Person Behind the Mortgage

What do you do, and who do you help?
I’m a mortgage lender and Branch Manager, but my real job is helping people figure out how to get from where they are today to the front door of the home they want. I’ve been in the mortgage industry for more than 30 years, and I’ve worked with just about every kind of situation you can imagine. Whether someone is a first-time homebuyer, has credit challenges, needs down payment assistance, or simply doesn’t know where to start, I want to help them understand their options and create a plan. I believe there’s almost always a place to start, and sometimes you just need someone willing to look at the whole picture with you.
What advice do you have for future homeowners?
Don’t count yourself out before you even have the conversation. I talk to people all the time who assume they don’t qualify because they don’t have a large down payment or their credit isn’t perfect. There are programs and strategies that many people don’t even know exist, so the first step is simply finding out what’s possible. My advice is to start early, ask questions, and let someone who understands the mortgage process help you build a plan. You don't have to have it all figured out before you take the first step.
What’s your story beyond the mortgage business?
Mortgage lending has been a huge part of my life, but it certainly isn’t all of who I am. I started in this industry more than 30 years ago without knowing that it would become such a big part of my life. Along the way, I’ve built a career, raised four sons with my husband Kris, and now get to enjoy being a grandmother. Outside of work, I love being outdoors, snowmobiling, riding the Razor, traveling, and spending time with my family. I think those experiences have shaped the way I work with people because relationships and family are at the center of everything I do.
How do you turn different passions into a bigger vision?
My Front Door Theory is really about looking at the decisions you’re making today and asking whether they’re bringing you closer to or further from your front door. That idea applies to mortgages, credit, real estate, and honestly, life in general. I’ve spent decades learning the mortgage business, but I’m still curious and still learning every day. I love taking something complicated, breaking it down, and helping people see a path forward. If there’s something you want in life, you don’t have to know every step today—you just need to understand the next one.
